The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has announced the launch of the FIA Road Safety Index (RSI) in Colombia, under the leadership of the Automóvil Club de Colombia (ACC), with COMPENSAR becoming the first organisation in the country to achieve the Index’s maximum three-star rating. 

The FIA Road Safety Index provides organisations with a data-driven methodology to assess, manage, report and improve their road safety footprint while embedding a culture of safety throughout their operations. The programme is based on a star-rating system, with three stars representing the current maximum level, recognising organisations that demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of road safety risks and effective management practices. 

COMPENSAR, a leading Colombian organisation with more than 12,000 employees, not only achieved the Index's highest rating but also, in a global first for the programme, immediately brought its key transport partners into the assessment process. 

As part of this broader commitment to road safety, COMPENSAR's principal transport partners – Trans Multiglobal, Creocarga, Lidertur, and Transturismo – also achieved the three-star rating, extending the organisation's road safety commitment across its entire value chain. 

The milestone was marked during an exclusive event in Bogotá, bringing together more than 30 leading Colombian companies to promote a stronger road safety culture and greater accountability across the private sector. 

During the event, leading companies including FALK and OIKOS formally committed to adopting the FIA Road Safety Index, further expanding the network of organisations dedicated to reducing road traffic crashes and strengthening corporate road safety practices. 

In addition, the FIA Road Safety Index was presented to key government and municipal stakeholders, including the Mobility Agency of the City of Bogotá, the Colombian National Road Safety Agency (ANSV), and the Federación Colombiana de Municipios. These organisations expressed strong interest in collaborating on the programme,highlighting the opportunity to align public policy with corporate leadership in support of the Vision Zero objective of eliminating road deaths and serious injuries. 

Working closely with organisations across the country, the Automóvil Club de Colombia is playing a central role in driving the implementation of the FIA Road Safety Index nationally and encouraging greater private-sector participation.

It is crucial for the FIA and its Regions to actively support our Clubs with robust frameworks like this one. By sharing these tools, we empower local organisations to engage the corporate sector and make our roads safer for everyone.”
